What strategies have been implemented to re-enroll students who dropped out during the COVID-19 pandemic, and which ones have you contributed to?

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted educational systems worldwide, leading to substantial student dropouts and school closures. In India, the impact was particularly severe:?

  • Student Dropouts: Between 2021-22 and 2022-23, approximately 95,000,000 (9.5 million) children dropped out at the primary level and 54,000,000 (5.4 million) at the upper primary level.

  • School Closures: Over 20,000 schools across India closed during the 2020-21 academic year, primarily affecting private institutions. ?

To address these challenges, various initiatives were launched to bring students back to school. For instance, the Bihar government initiated an 'Admission Drive' in April 2021 to re-enroll the 1,000,000 (10 lakh) children who had dropped out during the lockdown.

These efforts highlight the importance of community and governmental initiatives in mitigating the educational disruptions caused by the pandemic.

We’d love to hear about the initiatives you were part of! How did you contribute to ensuring students continued their education despite the challenges?
